UMass Lowell Center for Autism Research and Education (CARE) is recruiting for our “Horizons Plus” College Mentoring Program for Fall 2023:
“Horizons Plus” mentoring program for neurodiverse college students (e.g. autistic students, students with ADHD, learning disabilities etc.) is designed to support students as they navigate through their college degree. Students can be attending any college or university in the U.S. Students meet as a group online with trained UMass Lowell student mentors to guide and support them through a semester at college/university. Mentees may be freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors. The group works together on a range of topics tailored to their needs and questions. Topics that might come up include accessing supports and resources at their college, setting up a system to track deadlines for assignments, reaching out to advisors, connecting with other students, living on campus/commuting, time management and organization, study strategies etc. Meetings are on Zoom for an hour once a week (Tuesdays 5-6pm EST) for one semester (September to December). Mentors are trained and overseen by Ashleigh Hillier, UMass Lowell Psychology professor. There is a one time program fee of $75 which covers one whole semester and scholarships are available.
Please contact Ashleigh Hillier, Ph.D. for more information and an enrollment form: Ashleigh_hillier@uml.edu
